CAST

“My mad dad doesn’t get us.”   This lead character looks like and has the voice of an angel. Rose is an amalgamation of all that’s good, she’s intelligent, loyal, fearless, ambitious and so in love, to the extent that she allows all of her decisions to be guided by the emotions which patter in her heart. Even though her parents do not think that she is good enough to make it as a singing superstar, Rose has enough self-belief and tenacity to turn any negativity into positivity. The love that Rose has for her boyfriend is her fuel… but an energy source can deplete and when it’s exhausted, like a balloon, it deflates. Rose’s relationship and the love that she gets from it, is therefore her life support.

Played by ALEYSHA-JADE MELVILLE

Played by LEON HERBERT

“Stop that bloody racket!”   He appears to be a heartless, impassionate bully, but scratch beneath the surface, this character is trying to shield his daughter from the pitfalls of the music industry, because he’s had first-hand experience. The constant rejections hardened him and so whilst he knows that his child does have a beautiful voice, inherited from himself, he’s unsupportive of her desire to pursue a career in the music industry and equally unsupportive of her becoming a mother under his roof.

Played by VANESSA WHITE SMITH

“Rose, you’re too young to be thinking about this stuff.”   From Barbados, whilst this character loves her daughter, she takes her marriage vows seriously and is fiercely loyal to her husband, putting his wishes before all and everyone else’s. Her choices make her appear misguided and weak. Breda just wants a quiet life and home and anyone tampering with that, has got to go, even if she gave birth t that person.
